 A bit of advice from someone who was quite possibly the worst archer in An Tir (I believe I hold the record for the lowest Royal Rounds average ever posted ... it was 2):
 
The pointy bit goes forward, and the notched bit with feathers goes on the string. ;)
 
>From what I see here on the list, the target archery community in this kingdom is every bit as friendly and helpful as the ones I've known in An Tir.  I second the notion of borrowing a bow to start with, but do try and get your own glove and bracer as soon as possible, especially the glove, as it tends to help. (Well, everybody but me it seems to help). Then just go and have fun. They tell me eventually most folks do manage to hit the target more often than not.
