Minis are measured at the last hair of their mane. Measured that way:
My gelding Bilbo is 35.5 inches tall
My mare Eowynn (Wynnie) is 37 inches tall.
My mare Vilya (YaYa) is 31 inches tall.
The yearling keeps growing...I think she'll mature around 37 inches.
Minis are built for pulling, not carrying. I wouldn't put more than 50
lbs on their back. However, they can pull up to 3 times their weight.
Bilbo is 8 years old, and has been harness trained for 3 years. He
weighs between 250 and 275 when he is in shape. The girls are each 4
years old this year. Wynnie has been in harness, but not hooked up.
She will be this year. It is my dream to have her and Bilbo someday
work as a team. YaYa hasn't been broke...I'm not in a hurry, and where
the heck do I find a 2 1/2 inch bit!? And headstall small enough to fit
her?? :)
I am happy to answer any questions you have about them. Oh, and they
aren't for sale!

Just out of curiosity, how tall are your horses, and how much weight can
they carry and pull? (three questions)

Dear Gentles,
Have you watched the equestrian events with a hopeless longing, wishing
you could play with horses? Worried about the expense, equipment, and
all that STUFF that is needed to compete?
How about trying it in miniature?
I am offering the use of my little horses to introduce the populace to
the equestrian life. Of course we won't ride the horses, but we will
participate in games that involve packing. WE will also perform
services for the general populace.
I have miniature horses that will be introduced to the SCA this year.
We will be creating a niche for the tiny horse that will be useful and
fun. And I have too many horses on my hands to do it all myself!!! I
have 4 horses. 3 can be used for packing.one is a yearling so she's a
little young. But, she can be SCA pony eye-candy! I have one horse
that drives right now, and anticipate that I will have another in
harness and ready to be driven by summer.
In order to use my horses, all I ask is this.you must be at least 10
years old. If you are under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent.
You must come to my house and play with my ponies. This would be
unofficial.not associated with SCA, just getting to know my horses. I
will teach you basic safety and handling. You would also have to come
to equestrian practices to learn about the equestrian rules, and learn
how to handle the little horses in a crowd. You would help build
equipment for obstacles. Experience with horses is a plus, remember
they are little, but they are horses!
The minis will see their first event at Best Little Army, however they
won't compete, but they will probably haul water. This will be an
important service, since the potable water is .25 miles away from where
we will camp. Our first competition will probably be in the summer, at
an official practice.
I am in Arnhold.please e-mail me privately if you wish to participate.I
am excited about using these little horses in the SCA!!
