Barony of Loch Salann
Defenders Archery Prize Tournament
The Tournament will be conducted in three rounds: Static, Timed and Championship. The Static and Timed rounds will use the same target sets. All Archers shoot all targets of the Static and Timed rounds. The scores of both are added together for each Archer. The Archers are then ranked. The top four Archers advance to the Championship Round. The first Championship End is single-elimination. Two Archers advance to the final Championship End.
Rules of the Shoot:
All Kingdom and Society rules for Archery and General Conduct are in effect.
An Archer may not change equipment during the conduct of the entire tournament. Ammunition of similar construction and weight is not considered an equipment change. An exception may be made for lost or damaged equipment. This will be adjudicated by the Marshall-in-Charge (MiC) of the shoot. The decision of the MiC may be appealed to their Excellencies, Loch Salann. No other appeals are permitted. Under absolutely no conditions will an Archer be permitted to switch from a crossbow to a hand bow, or vice versa.
· Exception to this Rule: During the Championship Round, an Archer may be provided with additional ammunition by other Archers before and during the conduct of the end. Archers must take care to ensure that spine weights are adequate for the weapon. Prior coordination is encouraged.
Any hits breaking a line of a target are counted as the higher point value.
Scoring is done on the honor system by each Archer.
All static ends will use a maximum of six arrows. All timed ends will be 30 seconds.
No withdrawing of another Archers ammunition from a target (scoring or non-scoring) without the owning Archers permission. Picking up ammunition on the ground is fine.
Conduct of the Shoot
Archers will register with the MiC prior to the announced beginning of the shoot.
Archers will be broken into groups of three, four, or five. If possible, one member of each group will be a warranted Archery Marshall. Groups may be rearranged to ensure each group has a Marshall. Under no circumstances will a single archer shoot alone. (For some ends, this would be an unfair advantage.)
