Greetings from the shire of Schattentor in the great Kingdom of Northshield! The following is to inform all of certain things we would like to invite you to share in at Quest for Camelot this year, 5/17/07-5/20/07…
I. We would like to welcome everyone interested in participating in the A&S competition and display at Quest. The year’s theme is “Romance in the Middle Ages” and the A&S competition will follow suit.
There will be four different ways one can enter a project…
1. The first is for display/exhibition. There are no requirements for this category, so if you wish to display your work, whether it follows the romance theme or not, you are more than welcome to do so. These items will not be judged.
Items to be judged will fall into one of the following categories:
2. The Peer competition: This competition will be judged by other peers only. Projects are to follow the romance theme and are to be made with as close to period medium as possible or something they may have used. Period methods are optional. The projects must also be documented. The traveling prize walking stick will be awarded to the winner of this category.
3. General populace: Anyone can enter their work into this competition. The winner will be chosen by the populace by bean count. Entries must relate to the romance theme. Documentation is optional.
4. Youth: The final group is for youth up through age 15. Items for this category should be semi-period and should also relate to the romance theme.
Display and competitions will held on Saturday, 5/19. We will also be looking for volunteers to sit and watch over the displays. There will be a sign-up list at troll for this. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Ceindrech Hrolgsdottir at: Ceindrech.hrolgsdottir at yahoo.com
II. For those wishing to educate the populace at Quest, we are looking for people to teach classes with content of their choosing. If you would like to be a part of this, lease contact Ceindrech at the above email address with the following information: Name, class you will teach, prefered time and first alternatative, maximum number of participants, any materials required and contact information. Class times are available for both Friday and Saturday at the event.
III. Last but not least… we are looking for Volunteers for Quest’s “Rent-a-Bard”
Want to sell yourself… er… I mean… your talent? We’re looking for people who would be willing to sing or read poetry to someone’s special someone at Quest. For the reasonable price of $2, the populace at the event will be able to send a Bard to perform a pre-written song or poem… or one they write themselves… to the person of their choice. This could be the life of the event! All we need are people willing to volunteer their talents… whether that be writing poetry, reading or singing said poetry, or taking Rent-a Bard requests. Volunteers would only be needed for about an hour at a time. All procedes will be donated to the Kingdom Travel fund.
If you would like to join in on the fun, or if you have any questions, please contact Lady Caecilia di Tre Rosa at wfkellogg at yahoo.com . Please include your name, talent willing to share, and names of pieces you are willing to perform that fit the Romance in the Middle Ages theme. If you have nothing already prepared, we will provide songs and poems in a timely manner to be learned. Pieces need not be memorized.
Information and updates about Quest for Camelot can be found on the Calendar page of several of the participating kingdoms' websites, or at www.schattentor.org
YIS as always... Ceindrech Hrolgsdottir, aka Cat Moran
