The baronage is much more liberal than the Crown. For landed baronage, you can have Baron & Baroness, Baron &
Baron, Baroness & Baroness or Baron/Baroness sitting alone, no consort needed. A fact that I find very comforting.
A local group should have the choice of whomever the best candidate(s) are, regardless of categories.

Thank you to all who answered my question about coronets. I am hoping you will be so kind as to answer a couple
more. Do we allow gay couples to serve as landed Baron and Baron or Baroness and Baroness?
I am aware that we require those fighting for crown to have a consort of the opposite sex but don't know if we also
have a rule about landed barons. Also, am I correct that we don't require landed barony to have a consort at all
(they can serve alone)? The current Baroness of 1,000 Eyes does not have a consort, true?
