Subject: [Artemisia] Who's Your "King"? -- Authenticity
One of the purposes of the SCA is to study the medieval person we play.
Sometimes, this gets lost in all the "society" part of the SCA, so I wanted
to prompt a thread on who your king would be in your persona's period/time.
Maybe it will prompt some folks to do some studying and learn more about our
hobby.

Your Grace,
You always bring to this list great oppotunities to learn, I thank you.
My king ruled beginning as an child at age 9 in 1216, follwing a hasty
coronation after the death of his father John "Lackland". His mother was
Isabella of Angouleme.
Prince Louis of France had attempted to claim the throne and was supported
by The Archbishop of Canterbury, My king was crowned in the Glouchester
Cathedral by the Bishp of Glouchester. A simple gold band was used in place
of a crown. In 1220 a second coronation was held, ordered by Pope Honorious
III who felt that the first was not carried out according to church rites.
In his minority years the regents declared intention to rule by Magna Carta
which they did until 1227. He ruled until his death in 1272.
My king, Henry III
