Aurora - I am cross-posting this to the Aerie, for reasons that will
become obvious.

Aurora:
It works ok on my version of Explorer - unfortunately that's not
always good enough considering all the problems and W3C
incompatibilities there are with Explorer.
At the moment, I'm using Windows XP, but actually I usually circulate
across multiple computers [usually Windows, Macs, Linux] and multiple
browsers [usually Exploder, Firefox, Safari] when I write websites.
Right now, I'm restricted to just one of my windows netbooks while
working on fixing up my Idaho house - all the real computers and
servers are at home in my big house in Texas [sorry - the little
netbook feels like a toy computer to me, especially when compared to
my big linux box at home].
But I figured since Windows and Explorer are the biggest pains in
terms of website compatibility, when it worked ok last night for me on
the netbook using Explorer, then it was probably ok. But if you're
stuck using the Windows Vista disaster, all bets may be off - I won't
even let that version of Windows near any of my computers. [personal
opinon - your milage may vary]
If it really is being a pain in Explorer, look at it in Firefox. It
actually looks best in Firefox, which is my main browser and the one I
write for and test in first.
If you're not using Firefox already, you should in general since it is
more-W3C complient (Explorer is not) and a lot more secure IMHO - just
advice from someone who writes a lot of web stuff... It's a free
download from Mozilla. Try it - you might like it and it really is a
lot more stable and secure - and running adblocker on Firefox rocks!
To be honest, since I wanted to get the pictures webbed fast, I used a
pre-existing web template I wrote a few months back that utilizes
iframes. Now iframes can be quite flakey in Explorer, depending on
which version of explorer you own. Also, it might help if I got
serious and used a proper meta-statement in the html page head
statements specifying which html/xhtml version to use - that actually
might fix your problem - but I don't have time today since I'm doing a
presentation this afternoon up at the national lab that might land me
some consulting work and won't have time to deal with anything not
related to that until this evening when all my meetings are over with
(hence all the short cuts I took yesterday to get stuff webbed fast -
I knew I'd be preoccupied today)
If anyone else has problems, please also email me directly - and tell
me what OS and browser you are using. If there are enough problems, I
will write an alternative webpage using hard-formatted positioning on
the pics instead of iframes, even if it is 20th century coding (and
please don't tell anyone...I have my self-image as a superior nerd to
maintain... ;-)
