Subject: [Artemisia] Uprising Site Conditions
Hello All,
Well, as some of you were packing for Uprising, perhaps you were scraping some Estrella mud off your gear, and then wondering if things will be similar at Uprising.
Well, short answer is no. Happily, the soil at the Uprising site has lots of sand in it, and so it drains really well. Unless you're playing in the ditches, you won't find any mud! I spent the biggest part of the last 2 days out there, and it's nice and green and no mud!
The grass has been mowed, but because of the rain, it has not been baled up and taken away. At this point, we're going to leave it as is. Campers can move the grass that has been mown to make way for their camps, etc. When Uprising is all concluded, we'll bring in a windrow machine and try to get it prepped up for baling...but that's another story....
We cleared out a bunch of undergrowth under the trees next to the battlefield, which will provide some nice shade for the fighters (don't try to camp under it or the fighters will move your camp...where they want it, not necessarily where you want it!). In combination to the shade that we plan to put up, the fighters should have some good respite from the sun. And Their Excellencies 1000 Eyes have decreed that we will have sun, we will have fun, and all will be well! Sounds like some good marching orders to me.
See you next week. Contact me off-list if you have any questions.
YIS, Alan
