hey reach the age of obtaining a blue card. Then I feel the kids need to pay
he adult price. With a blue card, they are then playing an adult game.

I must needs clarify this. A "Blue Card" does not necessarily mean you play an adults game. my 8 year old has a blue card, and if someone playing the "adult game" hits her with a rattan stick, I will kill them. Figuratively, of course... Or maybe not.

The blue card only means that your liability form, releasing the SCA from liability should you be injured, is on file at corporate headquarters, and you do not need to fill out a new form at every single activity you attend. If a child wants to participate in youth combat activities, they must have parents sign a liability release form. The "Blue card" signifies this has already been done.

Kids do NOT play the adult game. Ever.

I agree with HE Gefjon. It truly isn't right. Both HL Wulph and I pay for a
ubstaining membership. Perhaps some one could explain the difference between
ubstaining and associate and the value of having a substaining since I can't
eem to remember.
o someone gets a case of the beak, sues the SCA and the populace suffers for
t. I thought that is why we have a hefty insurance policy. Perhaps it doesn't
over attorney fees... Idunno.. I agree that all adults need to pay the same
rice and the little ones (children not little adults) can be associates. Until
they reach the age of obtaining a blue card. Then I feel the kids need to pay
he adult price. With a blue card, they are then playing an adult game.

ell, it appears that some of us may be priced out of the organization.
hat will make a sustaining membership $45. Which in my opinion is WAY too
uch.
I also very strongly resent the fact that single people are subsidizing
amilies. The majority of couples these days have 2 incomes, to pay for the
onthly expenses on one home. Which generally puts them in a better
inancial position than single people living on one income. Why should one
f them be charged $10 while single folks have to pay $45? That is just
otally wrong. All adults should have to pay the same price.

understand your frustration. The single memembership would go up 22% and the
amily membership would go up only 13%. However, to assume that all families
ave 2 incomes is wrong. Even when there are two incomes, families have often
ore expenses than singles. I'm sure a suggestion to increase the family
embership more than the single membership increases would be in my opinion more
fair that to suggest that both adults pay a full membership. That would be an
ncrease of 60% for family memberships and I'd bet that it would price families
ut of the game much quicker that way.

hings are costing more and more these days while income is decreasing for all
f us. We have to accept that it's affecting all aspects of our lives and we may
have to make unfortunate decisions to cut costs for non-essentials. I hope we
an all find a way to keep "playing."
