A little nosing around turned up that Roman soldiers wore them for
protection in battle, and they were (and still are) believed to promote good
health, relieve high blood pressure, and are helpful in the presence of
bronchial asthmakidney, rheumatic heart disease, otitis and psoriasis. Wear it and
be healthy, thanks to your Norse women's astute merchanting skills.

Good day unto the list.
I have recently acquired a very pretty pendant featuring a large,
smooth-cut
tiger's eye and I'm wondering whether anyone knows if I could justify
wearing it in garb. I'm a 10th century Irishwoman (with an obliging
Norsewoman to go a-viking and bring me home pretty things, if necessary).
Unfortunately, I know very little about the history of gemstones. Does
anyone have any ideas, yea or nay?
YIS,
bantiarna Grainne Dhonn
