[Artemisia] Cost cutting woe

This SCA's troubles are not unique. Non-profits are finding themselves
high and dry and many are unable to fulfill there own missions. The
Society has this compounded by several recent law suits as well.
Most Non-profits are cutting hard copy newsletters an raising there
membership cost to continue to fulfill there obligations.
Unlike most non-profits th SCA is wholly dependent on members for its
income and can't fall back on an endowment or grants. This does mean
that we the members must bear the brunt the of the changes and cut
backs. In most non-profits when they find themselves reducing their
membership benefits they try to increase their membership numbers to
spread the load. While the SCA has increased fees they have done
little to increase members because this burden has primarily been the
responsibility of the Kingdoms and local groups. So if your feeling
the pinch find a way to get more people to play the game. In that way
we can in rease income without reducing benefits.
A thought for us all
