Greetings Mighty Equestrians of Artemisia!
I, Ruger von Wolfen Jager, will be hosting the Kingdom Equestrian Championship at Uprising.
I am planning an 'all around' type of competition that will start Friday with a 'Skill at arms', depending on the number of competitors and time we will then move into the Jousting if complications arise Jousting will be on Saturday, with the highest combined score from all events declared the winner.
Things to bring if you have them; if not there will be some available to use at your own risk (with the exception of jousting armor)
If the armor would work for heavy fighting it should meet the minimum requirements for foam jousting.
11' shaped jousting lance (9' with socket for accepting standard 3' x 1 1/4" tips)
Tent pegging/Pig sticking lance
Thrown Javelin/spear
Rebated/blunted blade
Armor for Foam jousting
Lance bases for the foam jousting will be provided for competitor use
Jousting ecranche (strap around the neck and left arm, covering from shoulder to elbow) Shields will be available for those that don't have one.
Last year at the First Artemisian Jousting Championship we had a large crowd turnout, and lots of positive feed back on the pageantry that was incorporated into the event. In hoping to carry forward that momentum, we will 'process' into/by the 'stand' area
There will be the opportunity for bonuses to each persons overall score for:
* Having a herald precede/announce you (there is a rumor there will be a prize/award for the best herald)
* Competing on a horse in 'full cloth barding' (see attached link Item #2 http://ilaria.veltri.tripod.com/makingbards.html for a 'easy' idea) barding played an important part in history, under all the armor people are not distinguishable, the barding displayed who you were via arms/colors plus as a status claim by how lavish it was.
Those planning to compete are strongly encouraged to participate in Jousting Practice on Thursday.
I look forward to seeing you all on the competition field.

c. Armor: 1. Helm - Helms must be of rigid materials (18 gauge mild or equivalent). There can be no openings that allow the penetration of a 1½ -inch dowel. Helms must have sufficient strapping and/or padding to prevent the rigid material from contacting the rider and so as not to be readily dislodged when subject to a moderate frontal impact. 2. Gorget - according to heavy weapons standards. 3. Body - rigid material covering chest and torso. Standard equestrian riding vests are deemed equivalent. 4. Groin - groin area must be protected by sufficient means including saddle or armor. 5. Hands - hand must be protected either by shield, gauntlet, or equivalent (i.e. vamplate on lance). 6. Leg, arm, and shoulder protection - armor recommended, but not required.
