[Artemisia] Period Pesto?

I've gone through Bartolomeo Scappi's *Opera* (1570) and didn't find
anything that resembles pesto. Basil isn't listed as an ingredient in the
indexes while pine nuts are listed as an ingredient in various
confections. And in *The Art of Cooking* by Maestro Martino of Como he
doesn't list either ingredient. I'll be interested in seeing what others
find.
