[Artemisia] For those of you who knew Maggie

Hi there,

Some of you may remember my Mom -  Maggie Miller.  She has been to a number
of SCA events since I started playing again in 1992, including many 'Museum
Comes to Life' demos.  Throughout my life, she has been to almost every
single game or concert that I've ever played and was even able to attend
the Raptor War when Etienne and I stepped down as Vicar and Vicaress -
(looking better in my garb than I ever have.  <grin> )

And does anyone remember the Coronet Tournament in Idaho Falls that Sir
Sionnan won?  Mom was sitting in a chair on the sidelines TOTALLY covered
in blankets and cloaks because well,  Idaho Falls+April = hypothermia.
;o)   She swears that people would walk by and drop another layer on her,
just because she looked so cold.
Dinner that night was very late and she loves to bring this up at family
gatherings and never fails to mention how the SCA likes to starve their
guests.   (always joking, *of course* - because she knew it would get me
wound up as the whole thing was totally my fault.  I didn't know that as
Tanista, I was supposed to attend a whole slew of meetings and took my time
getting ready for my first Court)  Ooops  ;o)


Unfortunately, on January 7th, she fell and broke her leg.  Because of her
advanced dementia, coupled with the extreme incompetence of an aide at the
rehab center, she was unable to recover from her injuries and died on March
20.

the Heritage Grove Clubhouse, at 3401 North Park Crossing Avenue, Meridian,
ID 83646.

If you knew my Mom or would just like to see what an extraordinary woman
she was, you are most welcome to drop by anytime between the hours of 1 and
4pm.  Knowing that other people were touched by her life would make her
very happy.
