<HTML><BODY STYLE="font:10pt verdana; border:none;"><DIV>I agree that many Peers do go on to receive other awards. This is why I said "possibly", instead of "probably" or "certainly". However, the experience for most Peers is that the frequency of receiving awards drops dramatically after being recognized with a Peerage. (For example, I spoke to someone recently who became a Laurel before I started playing, and she's never received a Kingdom-level Arts award. Peerages are Society-level, not Kingdom, by the way.) I don't see this dropoff as a problem, though. I think it's appropriate for Peers to step back and help allow others to shine. As far as mastering new skills, it is neither easier nor harder for me to master a new skill than it was before I became a Laurel. The only difference is that as a Laurel, growing and developing my skills is part of my job, and I don't expect to be constantly getting new cookies simply for doing what I swore to do when I was elevated. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ellen</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial">----- Original Message -----</DIV> <DIV style="BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt Arial; COLOR: black"><B>From:</B> John Johnson</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>Sent:</B> Thursday, November 06, 2003 4:14 PM</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>To:</B> Kingdom of Artemisia mailing list</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>Subject:</B> Re: [Artemisia] Peer qualities (was: thought for discussion)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>> Now what does the award-oriented player do, faced with the prospect of possibly never</DIV> <DIV>> getting official recognition ever again?<BR></DIV> <DIV>I've met many individuals with multiple peerages and also of several peers that have recieved Grant level awards AFTER they have recieved their peerage too.
