Hi, Pet.  Cheese cake, and various cheesecake-like variants and cousins, is
certainly appropriate to much of the SCA period.  I do not, however, know of
a pre-1600 cheesecake recipe that contains sour cream.  Nor would it have
been flavored with vanilla (not saying that your recipe has either of those
ingredients, mind you....)
If you'd like, I could ask for some recommendations for medieval/renaissance
cheesecake recipes on the SCA Cooks' list....

that I would like to torture people with.  Hey Hearthwarming feast was just
