[Artemisia] political correctness

It is apparant to me that you did indeed miss the point.   I am in effect ordered by a group of people that I am no longer permitted the use of a perfectly acceptable and proper word.   Why did this decree come down to us?   Because some people feel the need to kowtow to another group... who might be offended?

This is not a strawman, but political correctness at its worst, and is affecting me and mine directly.

Now you can choose to ignore the issue, if you wish, and even belittle my efforts to defend my rights to use language as I will, but you most obviously missed the point in my missive to which you most immediately responded.

Point follows...

WHERE DO WE DRAW THE FLIPPIN' LINE?!!!?   (notice the use of emphatic, yet non-offensive, language)

Ok, fine, so we don't use the word "boffer", 'cause some one doesn't like it.

What happens when some cheesehead out there decides we can't use the word "sword", or "weapon"?   Are ya gonna object THEN?   No?   Cause yer AFRAID?   'Cause someone might be OFFENDED?

I submit there is no difference, and I refuse to play that game.

I OBJECT NOW!   Not because I care about the word "boffer", or African-American, or gay. but because if I don't stand on this issue, then I am no better than other cowards who are too fearful to speak up, because they are afraid of what someone may think about them.

So, go ahead.  Call them what you will.   Call me what you will.   Be politically correct, if you will.

Don't expect me to care...

hink of that.

However, what happens if some group, somewhere in the world, who remains
ameless, object to those terms.

And what do we do when some group objects to the term "sword", or "weapon",
imply because it is representative of violence.
To my knowledge you were the one to raise the strawman of 'political
orrectness' in this discussion. Perhaps I missed an earlier post
here the pitchfork-armed mob was storming the castle of historical
ccuracy because someone was inordinately offended by medieval
erminology.
You can continue to raise further strawmen as you are doing here, but
doubt very much too many people will fall for them. We gave you your
ne; that's enough.

 Padruig
Then use the term 'boffer'.
Anything else I can help you with?
