[Artemisia] More Norman Garb Questions

Hi Again,

OK, I have been looking at the Bayeux Tapestry some more and noticed
that some of the garb appears to have seams sewn in a contrasting thread
color. Is this just a function of embroidery, or is this something they
might have done in period? (It looks pretty spiffy).

I have a second highly technical question: What are those wrappy things
with the straps around the legs? Does anyone know how to make these work?

I swear on a stack of Viking sagas that this is my last stupid question:

Does anyone have any personal experience with wool tunics? Are they
unbearably hot or is it possible to find a light and loose enough weave
to be tolerable for hot/warm weather? Is a light, loose weave period?

Sorry for my ignorance but this is completely outside of my time, place
and gender; I am doing some research for someone else.

Thank you all for your patience,

Tamar
