[Artemisia] Looking for Italian Soup recipes

Greetings and Happy Holidays to All!

As wonderful as the internet is, I've been unable to find a satisfactory 
answer to a question I have on putting together a menu for an Italian 
Christmas dinner. Despite the fact that my family is Swedish, I've 
always loved Italian holiday food for Christmas. This year we're doing 
loin of lamb with a savory lemon sauce. I thought it would be nice to 
have a tomato based soup to serve with the lamb. I don't have any 
experience with Italian soups so I'm looking for suggestions.

I know that we have some brilliant cooks in the kingdom. Does anyone out 
there have any thoughts for an Italian, festive kind of soup that goes 
well with loin of lamb?

(ps minestrone is fine too; just wondering if anyone has a favorite 
variation)
