[Artemisia] Uprising Site Things

Your Excellency and All,

The grass varies greatly from place to place. It is no where as long as it was the first year at this site. It is not as short as it has been when we've been able to cut it.

If people want to bring weed whackers, "just in case", that will be fine. However, DO NOT, AGAIN, DO NOT, cut the grass clear down to the dirt. I've had idiots do that past and it took a couple of years for it to grow back. Use a brain. It's fine to cut it to 2" or so. When in doubt, come and ask me.

As to the person who asked about putting cows/horses in to "munch" it down. The biggest problem/complaint we had at the former site was what the cows/horses left behind as a byproduct of their munching...LoL! I specifically don't put critters on the field prior to Uprising so folks don't have to deal with those "by-products". Unfortunately, some people don't like to be quite that medieval.

Hope that helps clear it up. If not, ask away. The grass just isn't that big a deal.

Alan

I don't understand, does this mean we should add Weed Wackers to our Packing lists? or don't bother because you don't want the grass cut at all? Long grass can be a considerable obstical when camping, espetially when you have allergies, which a great many of us do. It is also a real hassle if it rains, even a little bit because dress hems will quickly be sodden several inches higher then the highth of the grass. This can make for some very miserable walking.

I don't mind bringing something to take care of my portion of the grass and helping out with the sight, but you have made it sound like we may have to just deal with long grass. I would like to know how long it is, because it was outragious the first year and I don't know what we would have done had we not had a few forethinking people who brought tools to cut it.
