Actually the pattern I lent Gabrielle was one I made up myself, based on a hat found in the Gnalic Shipwreck. The shipwreck hat was published in the Textile Conservation book and they included shape and stitch counts, so it was fairly easy to work out a pattern. I also have the cap pattern from the class I took at Pennsic, I believe taught by ________ la Bonnetierre. I'm blanking on her first name, but who could forget the last?

I'll see if I can post the text of the instructions (separate email).

Yes, the flat cap is really only good for 16th Century. But wool is period for lots of people. Even in the heat. :>

Really, wool isn't that bad - it breathes really well and protects you from the sun. And should rain occur, you're covered!
