<>>><tap tap tap> Hello? Is this thing on?
>>I _know_ that there are other people on this list... ;-)
>>>I even know that people have read Elwynne's post (I've seen it
posted to a bookbinders guild list in An Tir).
>>>Surely _someone_ here must have an opinion of what we've put
together so far...
Sorry about that, Lyle, was working on a scroll, doing research and as a
very, very, very junior person in this potential company, I fully
expected others to jump in before me. :-)
Some quick thoughts -
There is a lot of room in the expanse between Novice and Journeyman.
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
>>SKILL LEVELS/EXPERIENCE
>>Novice –
>>- teachable, willing and able to learn
I would take out teachable. One person's unteachable is another's
perfectly fine.
>>QUESTION: Who is responsible for determining when a person is ready to
>>advance to journeyman or master? How will this be done? How will it be
>>recognized (ceremony, badge, cord, etc.)?
How was it done in period? I know that the Masters of Defense had
trials wherein someone would play their prize before judges. (Possibly
apples and oranges, but a potential way to do it). Perhaps the person
says, I believe that I am ready to advance, and gets a sponsor and then
proceeds?
I'm not greatly in favor of badges or cords. Again, possibly something
that would have matched what was done in history.
I'm more concerned not necessarily with attaboys, as I am with advancing
the idea of more historical ideals of promoting book craft and
encouraging their production.
Now if I just had time. :-)
>>ELECTIONS
>>Elections for Master Warden and Wardens to be held every ___ years.
I say two years.
>>Elections to be held once company is established and stabilized.
fair enough.
>>Discussion: Length of terms / No term limit / ?
Terms limits so that fresh blood can move in, new ideas are tried, and
people can retire in grace. :-)
