Greetings to the equestrians of the SCA,

The time has finally come.  I will be stepping down from the society
office effective October 15th.  I would like to announce that my
replacement will be Mistress Yaasamiin al-Raqqasa al-'Ala'iyiyya,.
Condolences…um…Congratulations Yaasamiin, I know you will do a superb
job.

I was very impressed with the caliber of people who applied to be my
successor.  I know that Sir Hrothgar had a very difficult time making
his decision.

The past five years have been an interesting experience.  Sometimes
rewarding, sometimes frustrating but always interesting.

I would like to thank all of those who supported the things that I have
tried to accomplish during my time in this office.  I would also thank
those who did not always lend that support.  I have learned much from
each of those groups.

I hope that I have left the office better than I found it, not that
there was anything wrong with it, but we must continue to grow and
change.  I know you will all lend your support to our incoming SEqM as
she takes us further into our possibilities.

I would like to send a special thank you to my marshals of the field,
Rory, Donwenna and Jerald.  They have served the equestrian community
and myself quietly (well mostly quietly…) behind the scenes for the last
few years.  Remember that all the EqMF warrants expire with the end of
my term.

I would also like to thank Syr Durand FitzRobert for serving as my
deputy. His help and support were invaluable to me.

During my time as the SEqM I have had the opportunity to meet people who
otherwise I probably would not have met. I have enjoyed the chance to
get to know so many of you.  Although I will be taking an extended break
from the equestrian arena, I hope in the future to meet you all again on
the equestrian field as a fellow competitor.

Until then I wish you all fair skies and fast horses.
