I have not read those, but I have read another trilogy - forget the title - that had to deal with a swordsman, and the conflict between technology and normal life.?? An interesting twist was tattoos on the eyelids and foreheads that told everyone your trade (forehead), and that of your parents (eyelids).?? Premise was that it was required in a pre-literate society.?? The number of tattoos told your relative skill level (I think 7 was max)

Subject: [Artemisia] David Duncan, interesting reading
This fella wrote a series called "The King's Blades" which I found to be a
fascinating read and, in several places, the epitome of chivalric behavior.
The first one is "The Gilded Chain" and chronicles the adventures of
Durendal, one of the finest and most legendary of the King's Blades, and one
who's story impacts several other Blades and several rulers over the course
of time.
Kinda reminds me of you lot. ;)

"Hey, so, are you guys in a play or something?"
"Wait, you can see us?"
