I've been making note of all the plant suggestions since I think they
would also do well on my property, which is quite dry, subject to
typical Artemisian weather (hot summers and some snow in the winter and
very windy now and then), plus I don't seem to find much time for
gardening, although I always intend to. Thanks for all the ideas!

Another plant that has not been mentioned is Chamomile. It was also used
between paving stones in period and gives off a lovely fresh apple scent when
trod upon. Bounces right back up after being flattened though. It also
makes a lovely tea which is relaxing and helpful to anyone with a cold and/or
muscle aches. While it will spread somewhat, it is not invasive and does not
appear to have ill effects for people or animals. (though it is wonderful at
calming hyperactive children, exp just before bedtime) And it doesn't require
much care. I have a plant that got placed in a far corner of the yard,
outside the zone of the sprinklers and too far for me to attend the past year.
It is still surviving, so it is a good plant for dry and neglect. Has lovely
little flowers too.
