[Artemisia] A Garden for Reflection and amusement

Another fine plant that might serve as a lasting low maintenance memorial
would be an Osage-orange tree. They are also known as hedge-apple. The
form of such trees is a fine lovely shape that in years to come could
provide a nice shade area for the garden. The fruit has a mild sweet aroma
that keeps pesky bugs away. This does require having a female tree as they
are ahermaphroditic. The only difficulties I see would be in obtaining the
tree and keeping the archers from cutting it down for the wood. Then it
would be a simple matter of keeping it watered for the first couple of years
to get it well established. Then it could be treated as just another part
of the landscape for many decades to come.
