For the ocean there
was at that time navigable; for in front of the mouth which you Greeks call, as
you say, 'the pillars of Heracles,' there lay an island which was larger than
Libya and Asia together; and it was possible for the travelers of that time to
cross from it to the other islands, and from the islands to the whole of the
continent over against them which encompasses that veritable ocean. Now in this
island of Atlantis there existed a confederation
of kings, of great and marvelous power, which held sway over all the island,
and over many other islands also and parts of the continent.

The Barony of Gryphon’s Lair is proud to announce Quest for
Atlantis, an exciting event designed to bring us closer to that most mysterious
of lost continents! It will be 3 days of Baronial Championships (rapier, heavy
fighting, thrown weapons, youth combat, and bardic!), classes, youth
activities, a WAR, and a Quest designed to boggle even the advanced minds of
the Atlantians.
We are offering the following classes: period hairstyles,
period dance, beginning calligraphy, card weaving, and gorget construction.
A fundraiser breakfast will be organized by HL Gwynnyth ferch
Morgan and HL Allegretza Pannatierre. Fresh breakfast burritos with ingredients
chosen from a breakfast bar will be served Saturday morning, $4/person.
The Gryphon’s Garage will be open Saturday so come visit and
give old items a new home. Baronial shirts will be on sale throughout the
weekend for $13 size S-XL and $14 for XXL.
There will be a dessert sale at the bardic circle Saturday
evening after court.
Saturday evening Belegarth is hosting a pulled pork supper
for $5/person. Help support our site neighbors and eat some good food!
Fires are allowed at the site as long as they are kept in
above ground fire pits. This site is wet, but please be respectful of the other
people using the site. Swimming passes can be purchased for $2 or $5 for
swimming and use of the waterslides. Pets are welcome as long as they are kept
on a leash.
Merchants welcome! Please contact the autocrat to reserve a
space.
