[Artemisia] Arts and Sciences Dates

I too once thought the two could be combined, but have since changed my
mind. Allow me to explain.

The Royal Stables has hosted 3 collegium events over the years. Acquiring
dates for these events along with 3 separate dates for the Kingdom Eq.
Championship Tournaments was a little bit of a struggle; so they ended up
being combined... Kingdom Eq. Championship Tournament and Royal Stables
Collegium. In our beginning, the first tourney hosted an
introduction/practice to equestrian games on the following day. This
worked out well enough to want to try scheduling collegium classes at the
second tourney.... classes covered subjects other than riding. The event
site for the third tourney (held Sept 28, 03) didn't lend itself to
classes, per se. Instead there were demonstrations in carting with
hounds, equestrian gaming for minors and mounted crest combat, i.e., we
forced the classes onto the spectators and called them demos. (grins)
This format seems to have worked well for we equestrians, so far.
However, as our college develops with more Artemisians interested in our
studies, a day of tournament may not be suitable for a same day of
studies... competition environment lends itself to total focus on the
goal and collegiums encourage freedom to explore. That said, I vote to
keep the two events separate. Personally, I'd love to see the Kingdom
Collegium held during the summer (or at least good weather) months where
out of doors classes associated with the Royal Stables can be taught.

Yasmeena, who prefers the slick hair-coats of summer on her horses rather
than dense furry ones of winter.
