Noble Cousins!
Greetings from Solveig!
I should point out that while articles on yamabushi and Japanese
shamen are interesting,
these are distinct cults from cult shintoh which is itself distinct
from (now abolished) state
shinto and PL (Perfect Libertty) which some argue is a continuation
of state shintoh.
NOTE: Shinto (The Way of the Gods) and Shinto (New Sword) will tend
to look the same
in English.
While I was able to find an online index to Monumenta Nipponica, I
was not able to
find an online index to the Journal of East Asian Studies. Also,
Cornell at one time
had in its collection something called (if I recall correctly) The
Journal of the Asiatic
Society of Japan. However, I am not finding it in their catalogue at
the moment.
Generally speaking, the premier articles in Japanese studies appear
in Monumenta
Nipponica which is mostly available from JSTOR. Although Monumenta
Nipponica
does not appear to have an article on Miko, it does have a few
Shintoh related articles:
KATO Genchi.
